The person behind this is an indie author called Vanessa - you may know me as normal_ness around the internet. After thinking about where I get stuck on my books, Oh Shit, My Draft! was created.

Frequently Asked Questions
Oh Shit, My Draft! is an overview or "big picture" type of editing service. It's a mix between a manuscript evaluation and a developmental edit.
I'll also note detailed errors I catch, because I can't not, but line and copy editing and proofreading are NOT the focus.
It depends on how much of the draft has been completed as to how detailed the feedback can be. Sometimes I can say "this might be a problem" and other times I am able to say "this might be a problem, I suggest xyz, and this is why I suggest that".
No! That's why this is call "Oh shit, my draft!" - so that you can engage in editing in a draft phase to improve your book and get unstuck.
I know this is unusual, but no. This type of editing I do is akin (see above) to a developmental edit, and to get any real value from this type of edit, it needs to be a holistic view of the book. And I'm not editing an entire book for free.
For March and April 2025, to help validate and refine the service, I’m offering it at $0.02 per word.
4-6 weeks. I'll let you know exactly what it will be upon booking, based on current workload. If you're at all familiar with me you'll know I have disabling chronic illnesses - I work with my body and reject hustle culture. If you need a fast turn around, I'm not for you.
I bill by word count. $0.025 per word. I bill in Australian dollars.
